our farm
Tradition and heritage are important to us at Running T Farms. We believe that you can't know where you are going if you don't know where you came from.deep roots
The original part of our farm has been in the family since 1753. Since its original purchase, the land has been used for various types of agriculture including cotton, dairy production, small grain, poultry and beef. In the 1950s and 60s the farm was mainly a small dairy operation and by the 1970s the livestock was sold and the dairy was replaced with a small grain operation.
As the times and economy changed the farmland was eventually leased out to larger producers.
Present day
In 2014 we made decision to take back some of the leased land and decided to bring livestock back to the farm. Having done this, we discovered that the years of conventional agriculture had left us with a degraded soil resource. Research on how to improve soil health lead us to holistic management and natural model regenerative agriculture.
In an effort to improve our overall land resource we have also partnered with NRCS to exclude our cattle from the creeks and environmentally sensitive areas, thus creating riparian areas and natural habitat for wildlife species.
